Is there a physical therapist near The Woodlands who will take the time to figure out what is actually going on?

Yes. PhysioVictory is in Conroe at 100 Commercial Circle, just off I-45 at FM 2854, about 20 minutes north of The Woodlands Mall and even closer from the north side of The Woodlands and Shenandoah. We see people from The Woodlands, Shenandoah, Oak Ridge North and Spring regularly. Your first visit is a 60-minute hands-on evaluation with your therapist. We don't offer short rushed appointments or xerox printouts from the 90s. Because we don't contract with insurance, we are truly able to spend your session evaluating how your different concerns may all be connected.

Who drives up from The Woodlands

The Woodlands has more physical therapy clinics than anywhere else in Montgomery County, so most of the people who come to us from there have already learned what doesn't work for them. They have diligently completed a round of physical therapy that ended when the insurance authorization ran out, chiropractic adjustments, or an injection that bought a month of relief. When the pain came back, they decided they wanted someone to simply help them feel good in their body again, and they are willing to drive 20 minutes for undivided attention. That is exactly what PhysioVictory is set up to accomplish for you.

The things we help with most often:

The common mistake

People in The Woodlands pick the clinic that is closest and takes their insurance, because that is the sensible thing to do, and there are plenty to choose from. The trouble is that insurance-based care is built around visit counts and authorizations, not around the question of what is driving your pain. You can do everything right, show up to every visit, and still leave without an answer that produces results. It is not that you failed physical therapy. It is more likely that nobody had the time to look at the whole picture.

What is different here

Your first visit is a 60-minute hands-on evaluation that does not include treatment for a reason. We want to truly understand what is driving the pain before we start poking the bear so to speak. Your therapist tests how you move, looks at the joints above and below the sore area to find what seems to be perpetuating the pain mechanically. Then we sit down together, explain what we found, and discuss strategies you can begin doing at home to help things settle from Day 1. You will not be rushed, dismissed, or sent home with a generic printout. We don't just do guesswork here.

Every follow-up session starts in the recovery room. Your therapist has planned a calm, welcoming recovery experience for your transition into the clinic, where you decompress, settle your nervous system, and relax your muscles. That prepares you to get the most out of the hands-on and movement-based portions of your session.

Most people keep a standing time each week. In my experience, that is what makes your schedule work: you know your time slot, you plan around it, and the plan is usually a handful of weekly or biweekly visits. I find that for many of our clients simplifying scheduling is half of the healing process. It's hard to prioritize yourself and we help you make it simpler. Many of our Woodlands clients find our simple booking process to be the game changer for finally finding a lasting solution.

We are cash-based, and once a physician referral is on file we can give you a superbill to submit to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement. Questions people from The Woodlands ask

Why would I drive to Conroe when there are so many clinics here? That is a fair question, and the honest answer is that it depends on what you have already tried. If a clinic near you is getting you where you want to be, stay with it. If you have done the rounds and the pain keeps coming back, the drive is short for what you get: a full hour on day one spent working out what is actually causing your pain today. You also work with your team to develop a long term home strategy that takes five minutes a day, as non-negotiable as brushing your teeth. You really don't need to be in crisis to get care. Tell us what's going on and we'll tell you if we're the right fit.

Do you do dry needling? Yes, at follow-up visits once we understand what is driving the problem, and only if you want it. The dry needling page explains how we utilize Dry Needling as one aspect of our care.

Can I bring someone with me? Yes, we have an extra chair for a spouse, parent or child.

Should I get an MRI first? Usually not. An MRI shows what your back or shoulder looks like lying still, and most of the pain we see only shows up when you are standing, moving or loading it. We start with the hands-on evaluation; if what we find points to something an MRI should answer, we tell you that on day one and send you to the right doctor for it.

What should I do this week?

  1. Know that pain that keeps coming back is usually a body in protective mode and not always an injury. Tissues generally heal within weeks. Painful guarding is usually a habit the nervous system learned, and habits can be altered. That's why people who have tried everything are the people we see most.
  2. Know that nothing you tried was wasted. Each round of care that didn't stick tells us something that has been ruled out for your case and in my experience that simplifies your care here. It is important that we listen and learn from what you have already tried.
  3. Fill out the contact form and our team will reach out within 24 hours to find you a time.
